The FDNY and the FDNY Foundation proudly invite fire service and fire & life safety professionals to attend the 2026 FDNY High Rise Symposium (HRS) — a premier three-day educational event held in New York City, the High-Rise Capital of the World.
Designed for Firefighters, Company and Chief Officers, Private Sector Fire & Life Safety Professionals, Property Management, Code Consultants, Fire & Life Safety Directors, and Building Engineering and Maintenance Personnel, the symposium offers advanced operational insight, real-world application, and direct engagement with leaders in high-rise firefighting and life safety

Day 1 - Oct 23 - Jacob Javits Center - lectures followed by networking reception
Day 2 - Oct 24 - Jacob Javits Center and Hudson Yards - site visits at both locations followed by a round table discussion with subject matter experts
Day 3 - Oct 25 - FDNY Training Academy – “The Rock” - guided tour of the facility along with breakout sessions
DAY 1 – FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23 - Jacob Javits Center
A full day of expert-led lectures and case studies focused on high-rise operations and emerging challenges, including:
- Fire Operations & First-Due Tactics
- Fire & Life Safety Systems
- Building Systems & Fire Command Centers
- Buildings Under Construction
- Fire Codes & Compliance
- Terrorism Considerations • Energy Storage Systems
- High-Rise Hotels
- Mass Timber Construction
- Cruise Ship Fires — “High Rise on the Sea”
The day concludes with a networking reception at the Javits Center — an opportunity to connect directly with presenters and fellow professionals.
DAY 2 – SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24 - Jacob Javits Center & Hudson Yards Campus
Experience two premier high-rise facilities through guided site visits. Participants will rotate through operational stations at both locations featuring:
- Energy storage systems
- Fire command centers
- Fire pumps
- Elevator systems
- Building safety infrastructure
FDNY personnel and building professionals will provide operational insight from both emergency response and facility management perspectives.
The day concludes with a roundtable discussion at the Jacob Javits Center with subject matter experts, providing an open forum for questions, operational dialogue, and shared best practices.
DAY 3 – SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25 - FDNY Training Academy "The Rock"
The final day will be held at the FDNY Training Academy, known as “The Rock.” The program includes:
- Guided tours of the facility
- An overview of first-due operations at a high-rise fire
- Three-hour afternoon breakout sessions (choose when you register) including Command and Control, Wind-Impacted Fires, Green Energy, Mental Performance, Chauffeur Training School, Elevator Operations, Special Operations, Roof Rope Rescue, Engine Operations, and Truck Company Operations
Transportation will be provided via bus from a designated meeting location to “The Rock” and returning to Manhattan.
