Overview
【DX Design Hub】Ocean Cloisonné Workshop
This workshop combines 3D printing with traditional cloisonné enamel craftsmanship. Using a simplified, easy-to-learn method (with non-firing enamel), you’ll experience the beauty and refinement of this ancient Chinese art form.
In class, the instructor will prepare the 3D-printed ocean-pattern base in advance.
All you need to do is focus on “dotting the blue” — filling and blending vibrant enamel powders by hand to create a gradient from shallow shores to the deep sea.
Along the way, you’ll learn about the materials and basic techniques of cloisonné, and feel the charm of colours slowly flowing and settling between the metal lines.
At the end of the workshop, you’ll take home a one-of-a-kind wooden ocean mirror.
Every time you look into it, you’ll see the ocean story you painted yourself — and carry a lasting trace of your encounter with this traditional craft.
Take-home piece: Wooden Ocean Mirror x 1
