Horror has long flickered at the edges of Cornelia Parker’s practice. This talk traces the network of horror references running through this exhibition, exploring how Parker mobilises classics Psycho and Rosemary’s Baby as found cultural objects—laden with symbolic charge, collective memory and anxieties that continue to haunt the present. Speakers Aaron Lister (Head Curator Art, City Gallery Wellington, and co-curator of Cornelia Parker) and Chelsea Nichols (Senior Curator, The Dowse Art Museum) collaborate as Curator of Screams—an unholy entity dedicated to the twisted entanglements of contemporary art and horror cinema.
The talk will be followed by a screening of Rosemary’s Baby. Wear your best baby blue dress.
