Hyperspace Social Tech Hub /

How can we make art and cultural events more accessible to people with disabilities? Where do we start, and what changes can we introduce in our own work?
180° – Laboratory for Innovative Art is organising a workshop with Alan James Burns (Ireland), in partnership with ACT – Association for Independent Theatre.
14 October, 11:00 AM
Hyperspace Social Tech Hub / 13 20th April Street, Sofia
Free admission
The workshop is aimed at artists, event organisers and cultural professionals who want to learn more about accessibility and make it an integral part of their practice. No prior knowledge or experience is required — we will start with the basics.
As an artist and director of the Disrupt Disability Arts Festival in Dublin, Burns will share his experience of creating conditions in which people with disabilities can fully participate in creating and experiencing art. The conversation will draw both on Burns’ professional practice and on his lived experience as a disabled person.
We will explore practical examples of removing barriers to participation in cultural life that you can apply in your own organisation or work. We will also discuss how accessibility measures can be funded and what creative opportunities emerge when accessibility is built into a project from the very beginning.
