$30Illuminated Letters
Generally speaking, before Gutenberg invented the printing press in 1439, the time-consuming task of producing books was in the hands of the clergy, or was commissioned by very wealthy individuals. These manuscripts were decorated with embellished letters that were often the first letter on a page and became illuminated” with the addition of gold or silver leaf to make the letter sparkle. Illuminations were often filled with drawings and patterns.
We will start with a letter and add tangles and embellishments to make Zentangle® Inspired Art (ZIA). Please bring your Zentangle® supplies.
