About this Event
A two-day Zen experience with Kiyohiko Shimazu, a Zen monk and business leader visiting from Japan. No experience needed. Zen is introduced here not as religion, but as practical training to settle the mind and live with more clarity.
DAY ONE | Sunday, November 1 | 2:00 to 5:00 PM (doors 1:30 PM)
UBC Robson Square, C300 Theatre (800 Robson Street, lower level)
- Japanese classical dance (Nihon Buyo) performance
- Talk: bringing Zen into daily life, relationships, and how you live
- A short introduction to zazen (seated meditation), sharing, and Q&A
DAY TWO | Monday, November 2 | 6:00 to 8:00 PM, followed by networking
SELC Language College lounge (321 Water Street, Gastown)
A small-group session for 30 to 40 people, focused on Zen and leadership.
- Seminar: Zen and leadership
- Zazen and kyosaku experience (open to all who wish to try)
- Discussion and Q&A, then talk with Mr. Shimazu one-on-one over light refreshments
Both days are presented in Japanese with consecutive English interpretation.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Kiyohiko Shimazu is the founder and CEO of Shimars Inc. and was ordained as a Zen monk in 2012. Before founding Shimars, he served as a board director and head of HR at Starts Corporation and led two group companies as their top executive.
