On the longest nights of the year, we gather to honour the darkness, welcome the returning light, remember those we love, and celebrate the beautiful connections that bring us together. Most of this event is indoors

There is a special kind of magic in the stillness of winter.

The trees have surrendered their leaves, the earth rests beneath the cold, and the natural world seems to draw inward, gathering its strength for the seasons yet to come.

As we approach the Winter Solstice, we arrive at one of the most meaningful turning points in the Wheel of the Year.

Yule is a celebration of the returning light.

It reminds us that darkness is not something to fear or overcome, but an essential part of the natural cycle. Within darkness, seeds rest, roots grow, and new possibilities begin to take shape.

And even on the longest night, the promise of renewal is already present.

This year, we invite you to gather with us at Oakhenge Houses of Healing for a beautiful evening of Yule traditions, sacred ceremony, remembrance, community connection, and messages from Spirit.

Together, we will honour the turning of the Wheel, celebrate the bonds that connect us, and welcome the gradual return of the sun.

Fire has long held a place of significance in seasonal celebrations, symbolizing warmth, transformation, protection, and renewal.

As part of our Yule gathering, we will come together around the Sacred Fire, honouring the light that continues to burn even through the deepest darkness.

This is a time for reflection.

What have we carried through the year?

What are we ready to release?

What wisdom has emerged from the challenges we've faced?

And what intentions do we wish to nurture as the light begins its return?

Through the symbolism of the flame, we will acknowledge the year behind us while opening our hearts to the possibilities of the year ahead.

Trees hold a sacred place in many earth-centred spiritual traditions.

Their roots connect with the earth, their branches reach toward the sky, and their seasonal cycles remind us of the enduring relationship between life, death, rest, and renewal.

During our Yule celebration, we will gather for a special Tree Blessing, honouring the natural world and the connections that sustain us.

This year, our Yule Tree will also hold a particularly meaningful place in our community.

As part of our Fused Glass Yule Ornament Workshop with Tracy from Loewan Glassworks, participants will have created small ornaments in remembrance of loved ones who have passed.

These ornaments will become part of the Oakhenge Memorial Tree, creating a beautiful expression of love, remembrance, and continuing connection.

During our blessing, we will honour the memories represented by these ornaments and recognize the many ways those we love continue to influence our lives.

Whether you are remembering a family member, a dear friend, a beloved animal companion, or someone whose presence changed your life, there is space for that love within our circle.

For Yule reminds us that even as the seasons change, love leaves its mark upon the world.

Yule is also a season of generosity, hospitality, and community.

As we gather to celebrate the returning light, we will share in the joy of gift giving, remembering that some of the most meaningful gifts are not measured by their monetary value.

They are found in kindness, thoughtfulness, connection, and the willingness to share something of ourselves with others.

Through our Yule gift-giving tradition, we will celebrate the generosity and warmth that make the Oakhenge community so special.

One of the most beautiful parts of our evening will be a special demonstration of mediumship presented by Jane Davidson Snider and the Oakhenge student mediums.

As our developing mediums continue their journey of spiritual growth, this gathering offers an opportunity for them to share their work within the supportive embrace of the Oakhenge community.

Through mediumship, participants may experience messages intended to offer recognition, comfort, reflection, and a sense of continuing connection with loved ones in Spirit.

The demonstration will be presented with compassion, respect, and care.

While not every attendee will receive a personal message, everyone is welcome to share in the experience of witnessing mediumship and supporting the development of our student mediums.

For those who have experienced loss, the holiday season can bring a mixture of joy, longing, gratitude, and remembrance.

Our hope is that this part of the evening provides a gentle and meaningful space to honour those connections.

Yule is not simply a celebration of the sun's return.

It is an invitation to recognize our own place within the natural cycles of life.

We experience seasons of growth and seasons of stillness.

Times of abundance and times of uncertainty.

Moments of joyful connection and periods of grief or solitude.

The Winter Solstice reminds us that each of these experiences belongs to the greater rhythm of existence.

Darkness has wisdom.

Rest has purpose.

And renewal often begins long before it becomes visible.

As we gather at Oakhenge, we honour the earth, the changing seasons, our ancestors, our loved ones, and the living community that surrounds us.

Together, we welcome the returning light with gratitude and intention.

Oakhenge has always been about more than individual experiences.

It is about creating a place where people can gather, explore their spirituality, develop meaningful friendships, and feel a genuine sense of belonging.

Our Yule celebration brings these values together in a particularly beautiful way.

Whether you have been part of the Oakhenge community since its beginning or are joining us for the very first time, you are welcome.

You do not need to follow a particular spiritual tradition or have any previous experience with Yule ceremonies or mediumship.

Simply come with an open heart and a willingness to share in the celebration.
