About this Event
You already carry a great camera. Most of us just point it, tap, and hope.
In two hours at the Columbus Circle Holiday Market, we slow down and make photographs on purpose. Holiday lights, glass towers, steam off the food stalls, the edge of Central Park: it's all here, and it's all practice.
We'll cover:
- Seeing first: how to notice the light and the moment before you raise the phone
- Composition: your phone's lenses, why your feet beat pinch zoom, and three framing tools you'll use forever
- Exposure: tap, slide and lock, so the phone shows what you saw (plus Pro mode for Android users who want full control)
- Challenges: one subject, five ways, and a composition card to solve
- Editing basics: a five-move edit in the app already on your phone. No downloads.
All skill levels and all phones welcome. Small group, capped at 8, so you get real coaching on your own pictures.
And yes, the best and biggest advice I can give you is... clean your lens. We'll start there.
What to bring: a charged phone with some free storage, touchscreen gloves and a warm layer, a small power bank (cold drains batteries fast), and comfortable shoes.
Meeting point: Columbus Circle, southwest corner of Central Park. The exact spot will be emailed before class.
Refunds and weather: full refund up to 24 hours before class. Ticket sales close 24 hours before start time. If weather cancels the class, you'll get a full refund or a spot in the next one.
