About this Event
**This class is donation based**
Recovery is more than something we think and talk about. It is something we practice in our bodies, our relationships and our daily lives.
Yoga of 12-Step Recovery (Y12SR) is a unique weekly experience that brings together the wisdom and embodied practices of yoga with the practical tools and principles of 12-step recovery.
Each gathering includes community and discussion, gentle yoga movement (asana), breathwork (pranayama), meditation and reflection to explore addiction, recovery and healing through the body-mind connection.
Based in part on the idea that “the issues live in our tissues,” Y12SR recognizes that our experiences can show up not only in our thoughts, but also in our bodies. Through movement, breath and compassionate awareness, participants are invited to reconnect with themselves, quiet the noise, and practice new ways of responding to difficult emotions, urges and patterns.
You do not need to be “good at yoga” to participate. You don’t need flexibility, special clothing or previous yoga experience. Come exactly as you are.
Y12SR can support people navigating alcohol or substance use as well as other addictive or compulsive behaviors—the many “A’s” that can affect our lives and relationships. It is also a space for people seeking deeper connection, self-awareness and recovery community.
Y12SR is designed to complement, not replace, 12-step meetings, professional treatment, therapy or other recovery supports.
This is a place to move.
A place to breathe.
A place to be honest.
A place to find community.
And a place to practice recovery-one breath at a time.
