In each of these workshops, we’ll explore what the change in seasons means for you on both physical and energetic levels. Autumn ~ September 27th
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), autumn is the season of the Metal element, corresponding to the lungs and large intestine, and is focused on dryness, introspection, and letting go.
In this workshop you can expect:
A Yin yoga practice targeting the lungs and large intestine channels of energy
Pranayama (breathwork) to expand the chest and support lung function
Discussion of dietary choices that correspond with the season
To learn why establishing an early sleep cycle and protecting your neck support this transition to Autumn
Winter ~ December 13th
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) - winter is the season of the Water element, corresponding to the kidneys and the bladder. It is the most passive, yin period - focused on deep rest, conservation of energy, and stillness.
In this workshop you can expect:
A Yin yoga practice, focused on the kidney and bladder channels of energy.
Our discussion of how to be aware of what can go OUT of balance during the winter, and the choices we can make - movement, breath work, dietary, social-emotional - to help stay IN balance during the cold, winter months.
Spring ~ March 21st
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) - spring is the season of the Wood element, corresponding to the liver and gallbladder, and is a time of rising energy, growth, renewal and fresh starts.
In this workshop you can expect:
A Yin yoga practice, focused on the liver and gallbladder channels of energy.
Our discussion of what can go OUT of balance during the spring, and the choices we can make - movement, breath work, dietary, social-emotional - to help stay IN balance during the awakening that spring offers.
About your presenter:
Jen has been teaching yoga for 15 years and is known for seamlessly integrating yogic philosophy into her practices. She teaches both yin yoga and vinyasa yoga, and brings her knowledge of each into all of her classes. Jen is also quite versed on the teaching of Chinese Medicine and how each season is honored through practice, nutrition and mindfulness. She created this series with the hope that it helps students move more mindfully through seasonal shifts. She is a Senior Teacher and Co-Leader of Yoga Home’s 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program.
