YesterWays is our free hands-on drop-in activity that focuses on a skill or craft from times past, inspired by our Monroe county history. It's held at the County Museum (126 South Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48161) from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on select Saturdays and Sundays, and participants can expect one-on-one instruction from museum staff in a fun, beginner-friendly make-and-take project.For this "Eerie Edition" of YesterWays, participants can celebrate spookie-season by learning to make popular paper craft decorations from the last 100 years of Halloween. Making simple and festive decorations was a staple of seasonal childrens' activities of yesteryear, that gave each holiday gathering a unique handmade character. YesterWays participants can learn to make paper lanterns, vintage style nut cups, and articulated decorations that would fit right into Halloween parties a hundred years ago.
YesterWays is free of charge, generally suitable for ages 8 and up, and there’s no appointment necessary. Please note: No YesterWays on Saturday, October 2, or Sunday, October 3.
