October is Breast Cancer Awareness MonthJoin us on Sunday, October 18, 2026 at 2:00pm for a program titled “Before the Ribbon: Four Women’s Stories from the 18th and 19th Centuries” honoring 250 years of American resilience this Breast Cancer Awareness month presented by Dr. Robert Satonik as part of the Foundation America’s 250th programming.
Dr. Satonik, a Park volunteer, has developed a narrative of four women after extensive research into the early surgical treatments of breast cancer in colonial America, including George Washington’s mother and John Adams daughter. The presentation will be in the Theater located inside the Visitor Center and supplemental information available from related organizations will be available.
