Instructor: Malayna Evans, PhD
From character arcs and plot structures to processes and beat sheets, telling tales set in the ancient world requires more than enthusiasm. Join Malayna Evans, Ph.D., author of Neferura and Isis of Egypt for a hands-on workshop designed to guide writers through key aspects of crafting a manuscript. The coursework will touch on developing rich characters, creating plots with meaningful stakes, incorporating intentional themes into your work, drafting first lines that connect, establishing a strong point-of-view, finding an audience, and more. With a combination of lectures, discussions, and writing prompts, this two-week workshop will offer concrete tools and strategies for writers new to the craft as well as those who are seasoned.
All registrants will receive a copy of Malayna's latest book, Isis of Egypt: Goddess of Thrones is a feminist retelling about the woman behind one of the ancient world’s most widespread and enduring cults, a goddess whose message of empathy and resilience resonates still today.
Malayna Evans earned her MAs in Greek and Roman history and the history of the ancient Near East and her Ph.D. in Egyptian history from the University of Chicago. She has written numerous books, including and the middle grade series.
