About this Event

Woven into the East End

Explore the art of transfer printing and surface embroidery. Choose from a range of demonstrated techniques and develop your own style.

The stories of East London's British Bengali and Bangladeshi community are woven into this workshop. We'll explore how generations of people have made Shoreditch and the East End their home, building new lives, businesses and communities, and shaping the area's rich textile and fashion heritage along the way.

This workshop invites you to explore your own heritage, memories and experiences, and the people and places that have shaped your sense of home. Bring your stories to life through colour, pattern and stitch.
About the host:

With a background in fashion and over 16 years of experience as a Design & Technology and Art educator, Nadya combines her passion for creativity, education and community to design engaging experiences for children, families, schools and organisations. Through Indygo, she creates opportunities for people to Create, Connect & Belong- using arts, crafts and textiles to inspire creativity, build confidence and bring communities together

  • Optional extra- (available to purchase on the day): Embroidery kits including pre-designed calico fabric, embroidery hoop, needle, threader and threads to take home including full instructions.
