NOVEMBER THEME
World Social Work Day 2027
World Social Work Day is coming up on Tuesday 16 March 2027, and we’d love to create something locally that celebrates our profession and brings social workers from across the Illawarra together.
And we’re thinking bigger than just another monthly meet-up.
November will be our chance to start imagining what a local World Social Work Day event could look like and what we could create together.
We’ll use three curious questions to get the conversation started:
What would make a World Social Work Day event feel meaningful and worthwhile to you?
What could we create locally that celebrates social work and brings Illawarra social workers together?
What skills, ideas, connections or resources could we each contribute to making it happen?
We’ll also be looking for people who would like to be involved in bringing the event to life. Those interested can put their hand up for different roles based on their interests, skills and availability, such as event planning, venues, communications, partnerships, activities or helping coordinate on the day.
There’s no expectation to volunteer and no need to arrive with a fully formed idea. November is about getting ideas on the table, seeing what’s possible and beginning to build an organising group around whatever we decide to create.
The themed discussion is optional. If you’d prefer to continue networking and catching up with others, you’re welcome to do that too.
Bring a picnic blanket and some morning tea to share. Coffee can be purchased at the gardens.
This is a peer-led group open to qualified social workers across all areas of practice in the Illawarra.
We’ll post where to find us in the gardens on the morning.
