Supper, spoken word and a show! WORD!Fest is coming to Leicester Central Library on Tuesday 27 October. 🌼Join us for a library mini-festival celebrating how food, creativity and community can sustain us — specially curated by WORD! for Green Libraries Week.
💬 2–4pm: FREE drop-in — Ask Abi & Chat with Matt. Join WORD!’s Abi Willock and Leicester Libraries’ Matthew Vaughan for friendly one-ones about creative health, mental wellbeing, storytelling, books and reading. A listening ear, ideas for community and creative development support, and small steps towards feeling good—all at your own pace.
🧵 4–6pm: FREE textiles, identity and mental health workshop with award-winning comedian and theatre-maker Juliette Burton. No creative experience needed.
🥣 From 6pm: Supper and refreshments from the Green Room Gardeners, with recipes from their latest cookbook.
🎤 7–9pm: Award winning, Juliette Burton shares an extract from her comedic theatre show ExperiMental, alongside a glorious local open mic takeover and the premiere of We All Come From Somewhere — a micro-film celebrating cultural diversity, with Leicester at its heart.
Hosted by Lydia Towsey and Abi Willock, with poetry, voices, music and plenty of room for you.
