About this Event
September Women’s Coffee Night: Season of Change — Women, Wellness & Culture
Women from all backgrounds are warmly welcome. Our Coffee Nights are created as a welcoming space for connection, friendship, empowerment, and meaningful dialogue across cultures. By coming together, listening to one another, and sharing stories and traditions, we celebrate both the differences that make us unique and the experiences that connect us.
As autumn reminds us that change is a natural part of life, we’ll take time to slow down, meet new friends, share meaningful conversation, and explore the changes that shape our lives, our health, and our traditions.
🍂 What to Expect
Our program starts with the sharing of light refreshments.
This September, we’ll gather around the theme Season of Change, reflecting on the many transitions women experience throughout life and the ways culture, family, and community shape those experiences.
This Month’s Health Corner Topic: Perimenopause & Menopause Awareness
As part of this month’s Women’s Coffee Night, our Health Corner, in collaboration with AHEC, Bexar TAB, and the EmpowerME Project, will feature an open and informative conversation on perimenopause and menopause.
We are pleased to welcome guest speakers from UT Health San Antonio:
Marissa Emadi, MD
Joelle Sarkis, MD
This conversation will offer an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and better understand this important stage of women’s health.
The evening will then move from health and wellness to culture and the kitchen for a fun Turkish-style pickling demonstration.
🥒 Discover the Turkish Tradition of Pickling — Turşu!
Did you know that pickling has a special place in Turkish food culture?
During our live demonstration, we’ll explore the tradition of turşu (toor-shoo) and learn how simple vegetables, herbs, garlic, spices, vinegar, and brine are transformed into something delicious.
Come for the coffee, stay for the conversation, and leave with new connections, new perspectives, and a stronger sense of community.
