About this Event
Women's Open Mic – New Host, New Format, Same Supportive Community!
Everyone is welcome! Come join us for a joyful evening of music, creativity, and community at Artichoke Community Music!
We're excited to introduce our wonderful new host, Tavé (Ottavia) Fascé, and a slightly different format for our Women's Open Mic! This is a space to celebrate original music, try out new songs, take creative risks, and cheer each other on.
ALL are welcome to attend! Friends, family, music lovers, and supporters of every gender are warmly invited to come listen, connect, and enjoy the music. Bring your friends!
Tavé Fascé!
We're delighted to welcome Tavé, an engineer, educator, producer, performer, and passionate advocate for women in the arts and sciences!
Tavé is the lead singer of Gerle Haggard, an eight-piece, all-women Merle Haggard tribute band, and the creator of Peace, Love and Soup, a podcast exploring community, culture, and connection. She has also contributed to The Politics of Living.
A graduate of USC's film and theatre programs, Tavé's remarkable journey has included documentary filmmaking, audio/video production, service as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Mali, and more than a decade raising and training service and therapy dogs. She's also an educator at OMSI and a mother of two daughters.
Tavé serves on the board of Siren Nation, a nonprofit dedicated to inspiring and empowering women to create art, build community, and celebrate women's achievements in the arts.
With her love of music, creativity, and community, Tavé brings wonderful energy and experience to our stage!

Who's Invited to Perform?
Anyone who identifies as a woman or nonbinary is welcome to take the stage. Whether you're an experienced songwriter or trying out something brand new, this is a wonderful place to share your music with a kind, encouraging audience.
Original Songs Encouraged!
We're especially excited to hear your original music! This is a great opportunity to test out new material in a supportive environment.
Thoughtful, lesser-known covers are welcome, too! We encourage you to explore songs beyond the familiar Top 40 hits and frequently performed standards. Have a fresh, creative interpretation of a popular song? We'd love to hear you make it your own!
Our goal is to celebrate creativity, discovery, and musical expression.
How It Works
- 6:30 PM: Sign-ups begin! Put your name in the hat for our performer lottery.
- 6:50 PM: Sign-ups close.
- 7:00 PM: Music begins!
- 7:00–9:00 PM: Each performer gets one song until everyone has had a turn. If time allows, we'll go around again!
Didn't get a chance to perform? You're first in line next month! If we run out of time before everyone has performed, we'll continue drawing names from the hat to create a priority list for the following month's Open Mic. Those performers will have the first opportunity to take the stage next time!
Instruments & Sound Requests
Need an electric keyboard, drum kit, or special sound setup? We're happy to help! Please email [email protected] in advance if you'd like us to bring out one of our electric keyboards, set up the drum kit, or accommodate any special sound needs.
Our One Rule: Love and Support!
We have zero tolerance for anything other than kindness, respect, and loving support. This is a place to experiment, grow, connect, and celebrate each other's creativity.
Come sing, come listen, come cheer! We can't wait to welcome you to this next chapter of Women's Open Mic at Artichoke!
