Jessie Kaur Lehail

Chapter Director @ Shelter Movers

Jessie Kaur Lehail is a transformative force in women’s advocacy, health equity, and social change.
As CEO of the Kaur Collective Foundation, she redefines representation of Sikh and South Asian women’s health, food security labour, collective care, and narrative medicine. Her work builds frameworks and guidelines that provide cultural specificity, creative power, and systems thinking to issues that have too often been addressed without the leadership of the communities most affected.
She is the Founder and CEO of Mother Tongue Inc., an emerging health technology venture advancing language infrastructure for health platforms. Mother Tongue is being built to confront one of health care’s most persistent and consequential barriers: the assumption that translation alone creates access. Its vision is to make language equity a foundational part of health innovation rather than an afterthought.
As a UBC researcher with Dr. Lesa Dawson, she brings cultural insight to critical studies on hereditary ovarian cancer testing among South Asian women. In her role as Vancouver Chapter Director for Shelter Movers, Jessie leads frontline action to protect and empower survivors of gender-based violence.
She moves fluently between frontline response, research, entrepreneurship, systems change, governance, and public storytelling, bringing together people and institutions to advance solutions that are culturally grounded, survivor-centred, and designed for real-world impact.
With over 15 years of impact, Jessie fuses strategy, advocacy, and artistry — also expressing her vision as a professional contemporary abstract painter.
