WNC Repair Cafe – Sewing & Household Repairs
The WNC Repair Cafe is a community-powered event where neighbors help neighbors fix broken things for free. Our volunteer repair coaches work alongside participants to repair everyday items, reduce waste, share skills, and build more sustainable and resilient communities across Western North Carolina.
This event includes both SEWING and HOUSEHOLD repairs.
For Participants (Looking for Repairs)
Participants do not need to sign up. Simply bring your broken item(s) and our volunteers will do their best to help repair them — for free.

Sewing & Mending Repairs
All things that can be fixed with thread, including:
- Hand stitching
- Sewing machine repairs
- Sergers
- Zipper repairs
- Boot and shoe glue repairs
Household Repairs
Household repairs may include:
- Small home appliances
- Tools
- Heirlooms
- Small engines
- Furniture
- Sewing machines
- And almost anything else you can imagine
“If it comes from your house and if it fits in your car, we’ll try to fix it for free.”
For safety reasons, we may limit or decline certain items. Repairs not offered include:
- CRT televisions
- Firearms
- Automobile repairs
