About this Event
wish/body/trace is an in-person interdisciplinary performance for the general public, presented as part of NE/X Festival 2026.
About the performance
Conceived and directed by Indigenous choreographer and performance artist Sam Aros-Mitchell, WISH | BODY | TRACE brings together contemporary dance, experimental sound, light, and improvisational composition to explore the shifting relationships between bodies, perception, and the environments we inhabit.
Drawing inspiration from quantum physics, waveforms, cyclical patterns, and Indigenous understandings of relationality, the work investigates movement as both a physical event and an expression of forces we cannot always see. Rather than following a conventional narrative, it unfolds through encounters, repetitions, interruptions, and moments of collective attention. Bodies converge and separate; patterns emerge, dissolve, and reappear; sound and light participate in a changing field of relationships.
Audiences are invited into an open investigation of presence, uncertainty, transformation, and the traces we leave behind. The work asks what remains after a body moves through space, and how we experience time, memory, and the invisible forces shaping our relationships.
