Wild Food Hike Sturtevant Falls Guided Tour
Join me for a 3.5-mile round trip guided hike to Sturtevant Falls featuring wild food identification and a seasonal tasting experience along the way. This immersive outdoor tour blends movement, nature connection, and food education in one of the San Gabriel Mountains’ most beautiful settings. As we hike through shaded canyon trails, flowing creek crossings, and lush riparian landscape, you’ll learn how to observe the environment through the lens of an edible plant educator. We’ll discuss wild and feral foods that may be growing in the area, how to identify key plants safely and responsibly, what makes a plant edible or useful, and the ethics of interacting with wild spaces. This experience is designed to help you deepen your relationship with the land while gaining practical knowledge about the foods and herbs that exist all around us.Along the route, guests will enjoy a curated wild food tasting, offering a chance to connect flavor with place and experience some of the ingredients we discuss in a tangible, memorable way. This hike is great for curious beginners, food lovers, foragers, nature enthusiasts, and anyone wanting a more meaningful outdoor experience. What to expect:Guided 3.5-mile round trip hikeWild food and plant identification educationDiscussion of foraging ethics, safety, and ecological awarenessSeasonal wild-inspired tastingBeautiful waterfall destination and time to pause in naturePlease bring: water, sturdy shoes, sun protection, and curiosity.
