About this Event
Join us in the langriggs for an afternoon of activities to celebrate nature and the changing seasons.
Sit around the fire and toast a marshmallow or bake a bannock, enjoy a hot drink in the outdoors, try your hand at scything, or nature sketching, and learn about some of the trees, plants, and animals that call this amazing place home.
Actitivies include:
- Scything - help us cut the meadows at the Langriggs, creating open ground for next years wildflower seedlings to thirve. Scything is a traditional, low-impact way to cut meadows and is thought to date back to the Roman times!
- Bio-blitz - we'll work together to see how many plant, animal and fungi species we can find and record in different areas. We'll be on-hand to help with guides, binoculars and bug pots! Knowing this helps us to see what's doing and well, and how we can help species that might be struggling.
- Creative Activities - TBC
- Warm-up by the fire - later in the afternoon we'll light the firepit and have toasted marshmallows and hot drinks.
- Information Table - Find out more about our project, what we're doing to help wildlife, and how you can get involved!
From 6pm we are running a Bat Walk from around the village and Langriggs. There are limited spaces for this event and tickets (free) need to be booked seperatly.
Extra Info:
- No experience necessary and all equipment provided - come and get creative!
- This is an outdoor event, so please also dress appropriately for the weather.
- This is a family-friendly event, under 18’s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
- Drop-in event, come for an hour or stay for the afternoon!

This event will be weather dependant. If we need to cancel, we will notify all attendees on the morning of the event via email and share on our social media platforms.
