About this Event
Description:
Join the Windrush International Caribbean Film Festival for a special Toronto screening of Pressure, the landmark film directed by Horace Ové.
Set in 1970s London, Pressure follows Tony, a young Black British man caught between the expectations of his Caribbean family and the racism, unemployment and social pressures surrounding him. As he searches for his place in Britain, the film captures the tensions of identity, belonging and a generation demanding to be seen and heard.
First released in 1975, Pressure became a defining work of Black British cinema and remains a powerful portrait of the Caribbean experience in Britain.
