This is a special, one-time Nicky Tours charity event, with 100% of tour proceeds benefiting the Children’s IBD Center at Mount Sinai through Nicky's NYC Marathon fundraiser. All three ticket tiers include the exact same experience. Choose the contribution level that works best for you. Every additional dollar helps support the cause. If you are unable to attend and would still like to donate, you can do so .
Join licensed NYC tour guide Nicky Shapiro of Nicky Tours on a charity walking tour focused around a single, pivotal question: Why New York? How did a sleepy port town teeming with natural resources become the vast concrete jungle we know today? What was New York like during the Revolutionary War? When it was called New Amsterdam? What was it like before European settlers arrived? How, exactly, did the city we know today come to be? Through a close examination of downtown’s architecture, culture, and history, we’ll discover how New York came to exist as we know it today.
This is the origin story of New York City, presented as a one-time public fundraising event in support of the Children's IBD Center at Mount Sinai, which advances research and care for children living with inflammatory bowel diseases, including Crohn's disease (learn more about Nicky's marathon story here).
Tour begins outside Castle Clinton in Battery Park and ends near City Hall. Capacity limited to 35 guests. 2 hours total. Tour proceeds rain or shine.
