About this Event
Why do health outcomes differ depending on where you live, your cultural background, or your income?
Health inequity is the product of deep, structural forces that shape the opportunities and resources available to people from birth. These forces are often invisible, poorly understood, or treated as inevitable.
Over the years, CHASE has built a network of passionate and dedicated people working across public health, policy, education, and community organisations. Now, we're bringing them together: a panel of experts and leaders to interrogate what drives health inequity, and what we can all do to address it.
We'll explore:
- The social determinants of health - how access to education, socioeconomic status, language, culture, and gender shape the health outcomes people can realistically achieve.
- The postcode effect - the reality that where you live is one of the strongest predictors of your health and your future.
Panellists will draw on their experiences working across the health system, schools, community organisations, and policy environments.
