The Whipple Scribble community has created some amazing work over the past eighteen months, from beautiful sketches to the colony of mushrooms in Anna Brownsted’s Parlour of Doctor Auzoux. Now we’d like to give you a whole gallery as your canvas.
Join us on Wednesday 25 November as we create a collaborative artwork on paper across 10m of cases in our Special Exhibition Gallery. The work will remain in place until the end of January 2027 while we prepare for a new iteration of the gallery.
Wednesday 25 November | 5.30–8.00pm
Free – Donate What You Can | Suitable for ages 16+
What to expect?
We'll have paper ready across the gallery. Choose any object in the Museum that inspires you and draw it as big or as small as you like. Think bold, sweeping line drawings, intricate details or little close-up sketches. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own style and creativity to the paper, working together to create one beautiful, collaborative artwork that will transform the gallery.
Schedule
We'll kick things off at 5.30pm with a short 10-minute introduction, showing you where your artwork will eventually be displayed in the Special Exhibitions Gallery.
We'll have paper and chairs set up and ready for you in both the Learning Gallery and Special Exhibitions Gallery. Simply find a spot, choose your favourite Whipple object and start drawing. It's a lovely opportunity to explore the collections, get creative and be part of a collaborative gallery takeover.
Although booking is essential, there's no need to arrive at 5.30pm sharp. Feel free to drop in anytime between 5.30pm and 7.30pm, with the session finishing at 8pm.
