World Garden Chumleigh Gardens Latin American plants workshop
About this Event

Join FOBP workshop about plants from Latin America

  • Starting with lunch from 12 noon and a walk round the World Garden
  • Workshop from 1pm to 2pm with Michelle Leano, Somos Semillas

We would like your help to develop ideas for the World Garden and new planting representing Latin American plants and culture.

Michelle Leaño is one of the garden leads at the Somos Semillas community garden in Brixton, where they grow Latin American plants through agroecology methodology. Michelle will be facilitating the workshop to support everyone’s involvement and knowledge sharing on culturally meaningful plants around the world, but especially from Latin America. During the workshop, we’ll be using drawing and conversation to think about our ecological and social ecosystems.

The World Garden is 30 years old and needs some rejuvenation with new plant. FOBP would like to see Latin American plants included in the garden. Southwark Council Parks have confirmed there is funding for some new plants.

There are 18 places available at the workshop if you find you can’t attend please let us know, cancel your ticket or email [email protected] so that someone else can come along.
