About this Event

Join us for a 'Wednesday Wainwright' hosted by Tina @tina.codling.mountain.leader

DISTANCE : 8km with around 560m of ascent and descent.

DURATION: Around 4 hours depending on the pace of the group, the weather and how many stops we have!

MEETING : 10am Martindale (meeting point will be provided by email before the event).

COST : FREE (but please consider a small charitable donation to Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team on the day, see note below).

WALK DESCRIPTION:

All welcome but you should be fit enough to walk for around 4 hours on uneven, mountainous terrain. We will go up Hallin Fell first. We will then descend to the starting point and ascend Steel Knotts (Pikeawassa).

Please note, the road up to the parking area by the church is steep and twisty. Parking is limited so I suggest car sharing if possible (eg meet at Pooley Bridge if not car sharing from your starting point).

PLEASE BRING:

Lunch and snacks

Water/drink of choice. It would be a good idea to bring a hot drink.

Good walking boots/shoes, comfortable clothing (not jeans), a waterproof jacket and trousers and hats/gloves/extra layers. Walking poles may be useful. Sunglasses and sun cream if the sun is shining(!)

Any Medic*tion you may need.

Please note, if the weather is bad Tina may change the route or cancel the walk.

Wonderful Wild Women are fundraising for a number of charities in 2026. Tina will again be collecting cash donations for Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team at her walks this year with the aim of raising £100 to say thank you for coming to our assistance when one of our walkers slipped and broke her ankle. There is absolutely no obligation to donate but if you can spare a pound or two, or even a few pennies, please throw something in the pot.

Tina is a qualified mountain leader but is leading this walk on a voluntary basis.
