About this Event

WCC is partnering with Fred Victor to offer on-site workshops at 145 Queen St. East, Toronto, in the downstairs community room. Join us in person, every Monday! Registration is not required, please arrive a few minutes early.
Explore your voice and receive empowering feedback in a community of peers through virtual writing workshops with the Writers Collective of Canada (WCC)! Join these free virtual writing workshops every Wednesday from 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM EST. No writing experience is required and ALL ARE WELCOME to each unique workshop!

What the WCC Community Writing Virtual Public Workshops offer:

  • Inspiring prompts from our amazing facilitators
  • Empowering feedback
  • Confidentiality by treating everything as fictional
  • A safe space for everyone's voice to be heard: We extend opportunity, dignity, and respect to everyone who wishes to write. Our workshops celebrate voice inclusive of race, ethnicity, class, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical ability, and mental health

What to expect from these workshops?

  • INSPIRATION: We write to prompts chosen to ignite deep creative expression
  • WRITING IN COMMUNITY: We share a silent space for writing and exploration
  • BRAVERY: We share what we have written (everyone is welcome to pass, too)
  • DEEP LISTENING: We respond to each other’s work by reflecting back what is strong and memorable about the writing

What NOT to Expect:

  • CRITIQUE: We provide empowering feedback on each writer's first draft writing
  • TECHNIQUE: We focus on exploring each writer's authentic voice, regardless of form or technique
  • TRAINING: Rather than "teaching", WCC workshops illuminate the innate creative genius in each of us

How can you support the Writers Collective of Canada?

Writers Collective of Canada (WCC) is a charitable organization. Our programs are free to attend but not to deliver.

Every donation to WCC supports underserved and underheard populations throughout Canada. It helps provide access to a powerful community writing program that is proven to create deep connection, increase resilience, and strengthen self-advocacy among community members.
