What happens when watercolor gets a little less serious?
Watercolor Playground is all about experimenting with the fun, unexpected effects you can create when you add a few unconventional tools to your paintbrush. Over three weeks, we’ll play with salt, bubbles, alcohol and plastic wrap — learning how each one interacts with water and pigment to create textures and effects that would be difficult (or impossible!) to achieve with a brush alone.
And I think that actually explains the class better than the original premise. It isn't “watercolor without a paintbrush.” It's using unexpected materials alongside traditional watercolor techniques.
I'd also tweak Week 3 slightly now that I understand what you're doing:
Week 3 — That’s a Wrap
Plastic wrap isn’t just for leftovers! We’ll explore how crinkling, folding and manipulating plastic wrap over wet watercolor creates fractured textures, organic shapes and unexpected patterns. Then we’ll work back into those textures with our brushes, turning them into intentional elements within a finished painting.
