About this Event
WATER TEMPLE RETREAT
Emotional Healing • Intuition • Sacred Renewal

Saturday, October 10, 2026
9:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Historic Mansion • Vancouver, Washington

Enter the realm of Water, the Element of emotion, intuition, receptivity, healing and flow.

Water Temple is an immersive day retreat devoted to exploring and healing the emotional realm through Celtic Shamanic wisdom, ritual, breathwork, Elemental Yoga, divination, somatic practices and sacred connection.

Water teaches us a different way of healing.

Rather than pushing, striving or trying to change what we feel, we learn to listen. To soften. To receive. To allow emotion to move rather than become something we must carry.

For one autumn day, a beautiful historic mansion in Vancouver becomes our Water Temple, a sanctuary for slowing down and entering the deeper currents within ourselves.

Throughout the retreat, you will move between experiential practices, partner work, ritual, breath, movement, reflection, intuition and rest. You will leave with practical tools and practices you can continue using long after the retreat is over.

HEALING THE EMOTIONAL REALM

Our emotions have tides.

Sometimes they move freely. Sometimes they become caught beneath the surface. Sometimes we become so accustomed to holding everything together that we lose touch with what we are actually feeling.

Through breath, movement, sensory ritual, supportive connection and contemplative practices, we will explore ways of becoming more present with emotion while strengthening our capacity for nervous system regulation.

You will practice meeting emotions with curiosity rather than immediately trying to suppress, fix or escape them.

Water reminds us that what moves can change.

INTUITION, SCRYING & THE WATER MYSTERIES

Across cultures and traditions, Water has long been connected with dreams, intuition, reflection and divination.

You will be introduced to scrying, a contemplative practice using reflective surfaces to quiet the analytical mind and notice the images, symbols, sensations and impressions that arise.

We will also explore ritual foot bathing and anointing as practices of care, presence and receiving.

There is something quietly powerful about caring for another person and allowing ourselves to be cared for in return.

Simple actions become ritual.

Ritual becomes remembrance.

A BEAUTIFUL DAY OF NOURISHMENT

Water Temple is not only about doing deep inner work.

There will be spaciousness.

Beauty. Conversation. Laughter. Rest. Community.

At midday, we will gather around the table for a delicious vegan catered lunch lovingly prepared by Earth School community member Kiki.

Because sometimes healing happens during breathwork.

And sometimes it happens while sharing food around a table.

PART OF CELTIC PATH OR A STAND-ALONE EXPERIENCE

Water Temple is part of Earth School's Celtic Path Training, our year-long journey through the Elements and the Celtic Wheel of the Year.

It is also open as a stand-alone retreat experience.

You do not need to be enrolled in Celtic Path or have previous experience with shamanism, yoga, breathwork or energy healing to participate.

Come for the day.

Enter the Temple.

Meet the waters within you.

And leave carrying practices you can return to whenever life asks you to soften, listen, release or begin flowing again.

The Water Temple

The Water Temple is an inner sanctuary, a place we create within the landscape of our imagination and return to through meditation, breathwork, visualization and ritual.

It does not need to exist on any map. We make it real through practice.

Perhaps your Water Temple rests beside a quiet lake, hidden within an ancient forest. Perhaps clear water flows over moss-covered stones, or a spring rises from deep within the Earth. There may be stone pathways, candles, bowls of water, soft fabrics, Celtic symbols or a place where you can simply sit and listen. Your Temple may change each time you visit it.

What matters is not exactly what it looks like. What matters is how you feel when you enter.

Here, nothing is being asked of you.

You do not have to perform, fix, explain or become anything. You are allowed to soften. You are allowed to feel. You are allowed to rest.

Through repeated practice, the Water Temple can become an internal cue for safety and settling. The brain learns through association and repetition. When we repeatedly pair an imagined sanctuary with slower breathing, relaxed muscles, sensory awareness and feelings of comfort, we can strengthen our ability to access those calmer states. The Temple becomes a familiar pathway we can return to when the emotional waters of life become turbulent.

During breathwork, we may imagine ourselves entering the Temple and allowing the Water Element to receive what we have been carrying. We can wash our feet, immerse our hands in a sacred pool, sit beside flowing water, gaze into a reflective bowl or simply listen to the sound of rain.

Each return adds another layer to the inner landscape.

Over time, you may find that you no longer need to construct every detail. A breath, an image of water, the sound of a stream, or the feeling of your feet touching the Earth may be enough to remind your body:

I am here.
I can soften.
I can breathe.
In this moment, I am safe enough to feel.

The Water Temple begins in imagination, but the experiences we cultivate there can become very real: the slowing of the breath, the release of tension, the awareness of emotion, the feeling of being held, and the growing ability to return to ourselves.

This is one of the mysteries of the Water Temple.

We imagine the sanctuary, practice entering it, and gradually learn to carry the sanctuary within us.
