----
Carrie Benson, PCD(DONA) is a reiki practitioner and a social worker turned postpartum doula who specializes in postpartum planning. She started her doula career with a DONA postpartum doula training in 2020 and became certified in 2022. Carrie loves using her knowledge of systems from her social work background to help families holistically plan for postpartum.
-----
Creating a postpartum plan can help decrease the maternal morbidity and morality rate, strengthen bonding, improve breastfeeding outcomes, and facilitate a smoother transition into parenthood. It shifts the focus from baby-focused to family-focused and creates realistic expectations.
Join Carrie Benson as she shares her evidence-based guide for supporting families in creating a holistic postpartum plan and discusses how to integrate it into your doula business. In this session, learn how to assist families in creating a postpartum plan that includes selfcare, parenting preparation, relationship safeguarding, and gathering their support system so they feel supported holistically and know exactly what to do when things feel hard.
This plan makes doulas’ jobs easier by preparing families more realistically for postpartum and will cut down on panic calls about these issues; they will have a plan to refer to and you will have a plan to review with them.
