Gather your team and put some miles toward caring for our neighbors! Walk for Warmth is a team walking and running relay on the rail trail, supporting an ongoing warming-kit distribution project.
Each team’s goal is to cover a combined 24 miles, representing the 24 hours in a day that our neighbors without shelter may face the winter elements.
Split the miles however you like! Walk together, divide the distance among teammates, or take turns throughout the day with a relay handoff. We begin at 8 a.m., and all teams must finish by 4 p.m.
Together, we’ll collect supplies and donations to assemble portable warming kits for direct distribution to people who are wet and cold—or who could become wet and cold without access to shelter, dry clothing, or a warm place to rest.
The kits will include practical items that are easy to carry: Mylar emergency warming blankets, waterproof ponchos, hand warmers, and fast food gift cards.
A warming kit offers practical help. Handing it to someone also creates an opportunity to say hello, learn a name, listen, and ask what would be useful. Human connection matters.
We’re collecting:
• Mylar emergency warming blankets
• Waterproof ponchos
• Hand warmers
• Gift cards for fast food restaurants.
Please limit donated supplies to these items so we can create consistent, portable kits. For this project, we aren’t collecting fabric blankets or other absorbent supplies that can become wet, heavy, and difficult to dry outdoors.
Additional monetary donations are welcome through Kit & Jerry’s Foundation for Good. All donations to this project will go directly toward the warming kits and replenishing supplies for continued distribution.

Are you interesting in distributing warming kits? If so, please connect with Amy Lawson at Kennebec Valley Coaching.
Bring your friends, share the miles, and help us offer warmth, practical support, and human connection to our neighbors this winter—and beyond. ❤️
