The Augusta Symphony Orchestra invites the community to celebrate the magic of the holiday season with Holiday Lights, a festive concert featuring the Augusta Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, December 13, at 3 p.m. at Cony High School, 60 Pierce Dr, in Augusta. Winthrop-based CODA Chorus will join the ASO for this concert, enabling the orchestra to present the Christmas choral pieces of John Rutter.
Led by Music Director and Conductor Jinwook Park, this special holiday performance will fill the afternoon with seasonal favorites and music sure to brighten the season for audiences of all ages.
The program will feature selections from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, the beautiful and moving Christmas carols of British composer John Rutter, and memorable music from favorite Christmas movies. The concert will also include music by Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg, adding another dimension to this varied program. Expect some surprise music, as well!
With the addition of CODA Chorus, the afternoon promises to be a wonderful blend of orchestral and choral music, bringing the warmth, beauty, and spirit of the holidays to the community.
The concert is part of the Augusta Symphony Orchestra’s 106th season, continuing the orchestra’s longstanding tradition of bringing live symphonic music to central Maine. Founded in 1920, the ASO is a community orchestra made up of volunteer musicians who share a passion for music and a commitment to making it accessible to everyone.
