Organised by Friends of Buxton Station, in partnership with local musicians, artists and the wider community.Join us beneath the light of the Beaver Moon for a special evening honouring Arnemetia, the ancient goddess of the waters, through procession, ceremony, music, poetry and community reflection.
The event begins at 6:00pm with a community procession departing from Buxton Railway Station, led by a magnificent giant Arnemetia puppet created by Two Left Hands. Accompanied by local musicians, the procession will make its way past the Taylor Well and Turner’s Memorial before arriving at St Ann’s Well and the historic Pump Room.
At the heart of the evening will be a gathering beneath the stained-glass window of Arnemetia, where the puppet will take pride of place.
The evening will also feature a display of the Quilt of Water, a collaborative artwork created by Ruby Moon celebrating the community’s connections to water, place and heritage.
Following a brief introduction to the inspiration behind the event, Barbara and Flavia, Arnemetia enthusiasts and keepers of the goddess-named shop on Market Street, will lead a short water ceremony. The programme will then open into an hour of musical and poetic tributes from local performers, including a contribution from Wiseheart Sam, alongside other community musicians and artists.
Voices of the Water is an invitation to come together in celebration of Buxton’s unique waterscape, to honour the spirit of place, and to share in an evening of creativity, remembrance and connection.
Free to attend. All are welcome.
