The SOAS Japan Society is a student-run organisation dedicated to fostering cultural exchange and deepening understanding of Japan in all its dimensions. Based at one of the UK's leading institutions for the study of Japan, with a dedicated department and a longstanding Japanese student community, the society brings together those with an interest in Japanese language, history, society and culture. Through cultural events, language exchange sessions, guest talks, film screenings, and social gatherings, the society provides a space for engagement with Japan and its place in the world.
MIMOZA WAYS is a theatrical production that blends historical and educational value, depicting 100 years of struggles and achievements of women in Japan in their pursuit of gender equality. The play highlights the challenges women have faced and their paths to overcoming them. The Mimoza Commitee, together with playwright, director, and actress Trinidad Garcia, spent four years conducting interviews with 70 women and working under the supervision of experts to create this new production. You can watch the trailer of MIMOZA WAYS here
