“The ultimate SOV gut-muncher!”
A nuclear power plant built over an ancient burial ground suffers a catastrophic meltdown, unleashing radioactive contamination and an army of flesh-eating dead upon an unsuspecting Kansas City neighborhood. As hordes of zombies flood the streets, families, teenagers, rival girl gangs and everyday citizens are forced into a desperate fight for survival. Zombie Bloodbath delivers exactly what the title promises, exploding into a relentless barrage of entrail-ripping, dismemberment, melting flesh and gloriously excessive SOV homemade gore.
A landmark of the American shot-on-video underground, Zombie Bloodbath captures filmmaker Todd Sheets and his Kansas City stock crew at their most ambitious — transforming backyards, houses and neighborhood streets into a sprawling DIY zombie apocalypse. Made years before digital filmmaking opened the doors to anyone with a camera, Sheets assembled an enormous cast of locals and reportedly hundreds of zombie extras, then drenched them in guts and goo in an affectionate salute to Romero and the gore-drenched Italian zombie films of the ’70s and ’80s. The result became one of Sheets’ signature movies, launching two sequels and helping cement his reputation as one of the defining figures of the ’90s SOV horror movement.
