DESCRIPTION

Join us for the Visitor Studies Group: 2024 conference!

Join delegates from the UK cultural sector and beyond to connect, share and reflect on experiences of developing inclusive visitor studies practice.

Speakers working in a wide range of learning, marketing, research consultancy and academic teams will present pioneering examples that tune in to and amplify the voices of potential and existing audiences. Together we’ll explore the role of research and evaluation in championing equity and accessibility and consider how evaluation can be used as a tool in efforts to foster a sense of belonging and welcome for visitors of diverse backgrounds.

Join us for fresh perspectives with research and evaluation at their core as audience development professionals and researchers from The Imperial War Museum, The V&A, The Royal Opera House, Morris Hargreaves McIntyre, The Revels Office, The National Gallery, London Transport Museum and more offer practical insights on:

- engaging local audiences in economically and culturally deprived areas

- how the cost-of-living crisis is impacting older audience's visitation to cultural venues

- percieved values and takeaway effects of introducing free admission

-audience research focused on visitors from lower socio-economic groups, global majority backgrounds and disabled visitors

- the challenges of a non-audience-centred ticketing strategy

-how compensation can enable audiences to engage more equitably

A networking lunch is also included, plus a change to shape the future of the Visitor Studies Group in our AGM and elections (please not only VSG members 2024/25 can participate in voting).

Please note: there will be photography at this event. This photography is specifically to support the promotion of VSG and fulfilment of our purpose. Delegates will be reminded of this at check-in; please speak to a member of the Committee on the day with any questions or concerns.
