With smaller class sizes, high-quality materials, and one-on-one hands-on learning, this interactive class will teach you how to construct a chic Japanese knot bag featuring its signature loop-through handle and a fun fringe detail. This stylish and functional accessory is perfect for sewists looking to build their skills while creating a finished product to take home that you get to say “thanks, I made it!”
What You’ll Do
- Learn the basics of bag construction and how to work with fabric suitable for accessories.
- Assemble and sew the unique shape of a Japanese knot bag.
- Learn how to construct the signature asymmetrical handles that create the bag’s knot closure.
- Learn how to line a bag.
- Practice sewing clean seams and finishing techniques for a polished, durable bag.
- Add fringe to create a fun, trendy statement finish.
What to Bring All necessary sewing tools, machines, standard matching threads, and fabric are fully provided for the workshop but feel free to bring your own machine if you prefer! There will be 2-3 options to choose from for fabric and fringe. This class is beginner friendly but you must be familiar with the basic functions of the sewing machine. I will have additional kits available for purchase if you would like to take one home to make additional bags for family, friends or yourself! Your ticket reservation converts to a $5 credit to use toward your purchase.
