Vignesh Shankar is a Chennai born guitarist whose music brings together South Indian Carnatic tradition, jazz and contemporary improvisation.
A regular performer during the Margazhi season, Vignesh has performed across India, the United States and New Zealand, collaborating with leading Carnatic and jazz musicians. He has released two Carnatic guitar albums, Soulful Strings and Bagayanayya, and has shared the stage with artists including Vikku Vinayakaram, Jose Valentino and Indradeep Ghosh.
With a Master of Music in Improvisation from the University of Michigan, Vignesh brings his worlds of Carnatic music and jazz together through the guitar.
