About this Event
Join us for a screening of My Left Foot (1989), Jim Sheridan’s acclaimed film telling the story of Irish artist and writer Christy Brown, who learned to communicate and create using the only limb he could control—his left foot. Set within a close-knit working-class Dublin family, the film explores resilience, identity, family and the power of finding your voice.
Screened alongside the St Brigid’s Arms exhibition at the Victoria Gallery & Museum, the film offers a further perspective on Irish family life, community, heritage and belonging. Together, the exhibition and film invite us to consider how personal stories, creativity and memory can illuminate the diverse experiences of Irish people and their communities in Britain and Ireland.
