Versova Actors Vikas Yojana is a musical dark comedy told by two artists navigating Mumbai’s theatre and screen hustle. Staged as meta-theatre, the play pulls audiences into a symbolic journey where the city's bitter-sweet struggles unravel through biting satire and live, witty songs.
The ride derails when Vikas—a teenage domestic help working for an aging actor—collapses in front of them, bloodied and desperate. Having serendipitously landed a shot alongside an A-list superstar in an ad film, Vikas told a small lie to seize the moment, only to lose his job, credibility, and dignity to his employer's envy.
Armed with dummy scripts and switching roles live before the audience, the two performers piece together Vikas's story from a hospital bed. Blending sharp humor with raw theatricality, the play unmasks the toxic ego and jealousy lurking beneath Bollywood's glamour, exposing how effortlessly the vulnerable are pushed to the edge.
