The Virginia Beach Branch of the NAACP will be hosting its monthly general membership meeting at 7 pm on Monday, November 9, at the Poolside Cooking Cafe, 3877 Holland Road, Suite 510 (near the far end of the strip mall), in Virginia Beach, VA. All are welcome to attend. This month, they ask all attendees to bring canned goods to support their upcoming Turkey Giveaway on November 14. This organization just celebrated 85 years of advocacy, service, and community empowerment in October. It was established in 1941 in what was then Princess Anne County. The branch works to eliminate race-based discrimination, expand educational and economic opportunities, protect voting and civil rights, and advocate for community equity.
The branch actively supports local civic reforms, most recently VB's 10-1 district voting system for city representation, and coordinates community action events, health equity campaigns, and youth engagement.
