“Until I Arrive” follows Lisakhanya October, a well-respected female soldier whose greatest battle is not fought on the frontlines, but within her own mind. Having built her identity around strength, control and resilience in a male-dominated military environment, Lisakhanya finds herself confronting the weight of expectations, stigma and silence.Portrayed by Lindokuhle Melaphi, Lisakhanya is brought to life alongside more than 10 other characters, creating a vivid and multifaceted exploration of life within uniformed services.
The play examines the stigma surrounding mental health in uniformed environments and the personal cost of suffering in silence. It asks: What does real strength look like, and what is the value of having the courage to ask for help?
