About this Event
This is the first of three workshops which will focus on securing Year 5 and 6 foundational skills for writing.
This practical training supports teachers and English subject leads in improving writing outcomes through a focus on foundational skills. Delegates will analyse pupil work, identify priority needs and select target pupils requiring additional support to move towards the Expected Standard. Through collaborative discussion and reflection, delegates will explore effective strategies, implement targeted approaches and evaluate their impact. The programme will support schools in adapting teaching, addressing gaps in learning and identifying ongoing priorities to help pupils make sustained progress in writing.
During this session we will:
- Identify Foundational Skills required for writing
- Analyse pupil books and prioritise needs of the cohort
- Select Target pupils
- Discuss strategies
- Implement strategies
By the end of the session, you will be able to:
- Identify the Foundational skills required for writing
- Adapt teaching to address gaps in foundational skills
