Practical ways to build trust, connection and belonging in our workplaces and communities.
About this Event

What helps us feel safe enough to ask for help, speak up or simply be ourselves?

Feeling safe, heard and that we belong can make a huge difference to our wellbeing, our relationships and our ability to access support when we need it. Yet asking for help isn’t always easy. Previous experiences, fear of judgement, communication differences, anxiety or simply not knowing how someone will respond can all create barriers.

Join Liz Day, Founder of Collectively Diverse CIC, for this free, friendly and informative introductory session exploring what helps people feel welcome, listened to, valued and supported.

Drawing on principles of psychological safety, inclusion, neurodiversity and wellbeing, we’ll look at why people can sometimes find it difficult to ask for help and the small, practical things we can all do to create environments where people feel safer to speak up and more able to belong.

During the session, we’ll explore:

  • Why asking for help can sometimes feel difficult
  • What helps people feel safe, welcome and included
  • How our responses can encourage, or unintentionally discourage, people from speaking up
  • The importance of trust, connection and belonging
  • Practical ideas you can use in everyday life, community settings and workplaces

Who is it for?

Everyone is welcome. The session has been designed to be useful for local residents, carers and community members, as well as people working or volunteering in community organisations, charities, support services, education, health, local businesses and other workplaces.

You don’t need any previous knowledge or professional experience – just an interest in creating spaces where people can feel safe, included and able to thrive.

The session will be approximately 50 minutes, with 10 minutes for questions and discussion.

This event is being offered free of charge by Collectively Diverse CIC as part of our commitment to supporting more inclusive, mentally healthy communities.
