About this Event
Join us as we share the culmination of our research and development period in preparation for a full rehearsal process and touring in Autumn 2027.
Our playfully provocative version of Neil Bartlett's Ubu Royale (after Alfred Jarry) is our most ambitious project to date.
This explosive production will feature a cast of 3 (Mark Winstanley, Susanna Amato and David Stone) playing more than twenty characters in a visually rich world built from junk, detritus and repurposed mobility aids—a playground of make-believe for this deeply unsavoury double act.
Think Rik Mayall, Spitting Image and Punch and Judy with bodily functions, bad behaviour, outrageous excess and lots and lots and lots of swearing....with the plot of Macbeth to guide them.
UBU ROYALEis a gloriously absurd satire about two megalomaniacal wannabe monarchs and what happens when the wrong people are in a position of power.
Together, they are irresistibly awful—brought to life by The Performers' Playground whose charm somehow makes us root for their spectacular descent into chaos.
So bring on the dancing tyrants in this monster of a play.
Expect inventive puppetry, razor-sharp satire, anarchic storytelling and a generous dose of mischief.
Please note there are two showings to choose from: 1-2pm slot and one at 3-4pm Please ensure to arrive at HOME ARCHES early, doors to the space will open 10 MINUTES prior to the show begins
Latecomers will not be admitted.
