For our final Concert of the year, our programme spans more than two centuries of orchestral music, taking audiences on a captivating journey through some of the most colourful and evocative works in the classical repertoire. From the radiant energy of Haydn's Overture to The Creation to the sweeping landscapes of Sibelius's The Swan of Tuonela (featuring our very own Nicole Gee on Oboe) and Smetana's beloved Moldau, the concert celebrates the rich evolution of orchestral music across Europe.Under the direction of Gerald Keuneman OAM, the Whitehorse Orchestra will bring to life masterpieces that showcase drama, beauty and musical storytelling. Audiences will also enjoy Tchaikovsky's stirring Marche Slave, Ravel's exquisite Pavane pour une infante défunte, and a special performance of Vivaldi's virtuosic Bassoon Concerto in A minor featuring soloist Martha Ning.
Whether you are a lifelong classical music enthusiast or discovering orchestral music for the first time, Two Centuries of Classical Music promises an inspiring afternoon of memorable melodies, powerful emotions and exceptional musicianship.
