Effective twisting requires a thoughtful balance between spinal length, core engagement, and shoulder mobility rather than simply forcing rotation. In this two-hour workshop, we’ll look at how we prepare the upper body, shoulders, and hips so that we can access deeper, more supportive twists; treating the spine to its full range of movement and looking at our practice from a different angle.
Alongside the physical practice, we will explore some of the traditional philosophy and energetic theory behind spinal rotation.
We will also look at how straps can act as a tool for leverage, sometimes feeling like a restrictive bind and other times acting as available help to see what a destination feels like.
Whether you use the time to lean into a physical challenge, experiment with how props alter your range of motion, or simply carve out a quiet Saturday morning for yourself, the space is yours to use however you need it.
All levels are welcome.
